Tapes at Luohu
mixed media video installation and performance, 11 minutes, dimensions variable

The tape cores used in the performance are recycled from several express stations around Luohu Port, the busiest port of the entry of Mainland China and Hong Kong. Thousands of rolls of tapes are consumed for over-packaging small parcels of commodities purchased from Hong Kong, per day. The noises are loud, endless, unpleasant, going through the port space day and night.
Three performers are semi-improvised to develop a method of destroying and rebuilding (constraining and breaking) the form of packaging with tapes and tapes cores. The performers' bodies are used to replay the dynamics centred by the packaging station. The video is projected opposite the wall after the performance.
